2012 Fashion Resolutions

January 4, 2012

You know what the New Year brings….another 365 days, well for this year 366 days, full of new adventures and of course the much-loved New Year’s Resolutions.

Made any of your own yet? Or are you still deciding?

If you’re like me and still deciding (a.k.a trying to figure out some  that are admirable yet attainable….) a great approach to your  New Year’s resolutions is taking the fashion route, of course. Check out our top 3 New Year’s Fashion Resolutions and feel free to steal or put your own spin on them!

1. Develop your own unique fashion senseI'm in love with this ad

This resolution may seem daunting, but it’s quite simple. Try reflecting on to your favorite fashion piece; maybe it’s a great pair of heels, an awesome vintage purse or even a color that fills your wardrobe. Use that piece as an inspiration to create your very own style around it! Not only will you discover a new fashion sense, but you’ll learn more about the forever changing ‘self’.

After developing your signature style you’ll more than likely have some pieces in your closet that just don’t “go”. Now is the perfect time to…..

2. Organize your closet

So back in my college days when I use to have something called “free time”, I would take pictures of myself in every outfit I had. I kept the pictures in a file on my computer and organized it by “Every day Clothes”, “Going out Clothes” and “Formal”, the point of this was to get as many outfits out of each piece I had and to be able to see how the outfits looked on camera. Eccentric, I know. My closet was organized by color and of course rearranged every season.

Yeah, I don’t have that luxury any more. But I definitely plan on reorganizing my closet with the first step being purge, purge, purge. You can’t get organized when you have  too many clothing pieces that you don’t even wear. Go through your closet and separate your clothing in to three piles: “keepers” “not keepers” and “maybe”. If your like me the “maybe” pile is going to get huge…and that’s okay. Organize the “keepers” give the “not keepers” to Goodwill and let the “maybes” sit.  Then go through the “maybes” again, continue until the pile has vanished! Afterwards organize as you see fit; by color or maybe occasion, the choice is yours. You’ll be happy you did this : )

And last, but not least

3. Be happy.

Because nothing is more fashionable than a beautiful smile : D

Happy New Year’s,

Brit
