What you need:
- Old wine crate
- Wood for shelving
- Wood glue

How to:
- Measure out the dimensions of your wine crate to establish the size of the wood necessary for the shelving as well as the gilded frame for the border

Fendi had some amazing pieces for Spring 2012 Fashion week! The mixture of neutrals, stripes and texture is mesmerizing, so of course, I had to find something to do a DIY on! And VOILA….. I found it! A great hole punched leather skirt.
Sounds strange and not springy, but the punched holes immediately lighten it up and make it spring appropriate while adding a little charm!
Fendi Spring Hole Punched Skirt

What you need:
- Fabric or leather hole puncher
- Ruler
- Leather or suede skirt in a neutral color from Goodwill
- Optional: Sheer material, needle and thread
How to:
1. Decide where you would like your holes to begin and if you prefer a neat design hole pattern or none. ( The Fendi Skirt features holes beginning at the top and down in straight lines 1 in apart)
2. If you want neat lines. Turn your skirt inside out, use your ruler, and mark out the spot you would like punched. If you don’t need a design, skip this step!
3. Begin your hole punching!
4. OPTIONAL: if the holes bother you sew in sheer fabric on the inside to make you feel a little more comfortable : )
Replica Fendi skirt for a fraction of the cost and unique to you!

Or accessories for your art! Whichever you prefer, here is an easy and stylish idea to organize your earrings, necklaces and other jewelry pieces!

What you need:
- A frame (or frames) from Goodwill
- Coordinating scrapbook paper
- Screen (from an old window screen or you can purchase a roll from any home improvement store like Lowes or Home Depot)
- Hot glue gun
- Adhesive – whatever you have lying around the house
- Nails
How to:
- Prep the frame(s). Wipe off the surface and remove the backing of the frame including the glass – save this stuff for another project. If your frames are different colors, sand and paint them all to match.
- Cut pieces of screen to fit the inside of the frame – make sure you have extra screen to attach to the frame.
- Hot glue the screen to the inside of the frame, where the glass would sit. Try to keep the screen as tight as possible.
- Cut the pieces of scrapbooking paper to fit the outside (back) of the frame. Again, make sure you add extra paper to cover the whole back.
- Adhere the scrapbook paper to the back of the frame… I used packaging tape because it’s what I had lying around and I wanted something semi-permanent so I could change the look in the future.

- Hammer the nails onto the frame for extra “storage”.
- Hang on the wall and display your beautiful jewelry!

This project can usually be completed in a couple of hours one evening – depending on if you have to paint the frames or not. Have fun creating and let us know if you have any suggestions or other ideas!
Thanks for reading!
Jen

Pardon the absence on Monday, but we’re back and ready to spread some St. Patrick’s Day cheer!
While I personally don’t go all out for St. Patty’s Day by dressing head to toe in green, eating corn beef (yuck), and setting countless leprechaun traps throughout the house…..I DO enjoy a little festiveness!
So, I found the perfect balance between festive and subtle in this adorable St. Patty’s Day home decor DIY by Miss Fancy Pants Designs, oh la la. Check it out!
St. Patty’s Day Recycled Baking Tray Wall Decor

What you need:
- Printed cardstock of your choice; think various shades of green and neutrals!
- Assorted ribbons, lace and buttons
- Hem trim
- Heart stamp cut out or hand cut
- Glue and/ stick glue
- Super glue
- Black thin point pen
- Ruler
- Decorative metal tray from Goodwill
How to:
- Pick out your “base” piece of cardstock. If you would like text on it, be sure to go ahead, create the text and print off prior to starting the project!
- Use the stick glue to glue the “base” paper to the inside of the metal tray
- Cut or punch out 6 hearts, two from each pattern/color.
- Decide where your clovers will go on your base paper. Glue down 3 of the hearts, 1 of each pattern, to the paper.
- Draw, in pencil, stems where you would like your clovers to grow.
- Fold the remaining three hearts in half. Glue along the folded line and adhere on top of the like heart that is glued to the paper. This creates a 3D effect
- Take your black pen and create faux stitching over the penciled stems, and through the clovers( Along the folded line)
- Use a ruler to create a faux stitching border about an inch from the edge of the entire paper.
- Take small buttons and glue to the center of each clover.
- Glue the hem trim along the edges of the paper along the metal tray
- Use additional lace/ ribbons to decorate your page
- Super glue two pieces of ribbon to the back of the tray, in order to tie and hang from the wall!
Voila, sweet and creative St. Patty’s Day Wall decor

This Thursday, we like the Charleston City Paper, or even more importantly, the City Paper readers, who voted Goodwill the Best Thrift Store in the Charleston area! We appreciate the support from our community and will continue to do what it takes to please you all! But… we should really be thanking all of the donors who help to stock the stores with fabulous, pre-loved goods! It is you that allow us to continue to offer great finds with the proceeds going to benefit individuals that need employment services!

And, we really like the City Paper “Critics” who voted the Johns Island Goodwill the best new thrift store and even gave a plug to this blog!!! We feel so special – thanks!
