Decoupage is an art form that has been around for quite some time. The technique involves decorating an object by “gluing” colored paper cutouts on to it in combination with special paint effects. You can use this technique on a variety of mediums, the ever so popular medium of today is WOOD. The authentic technique involves layers and hours of varnishing and sanding, however fortunately for you, talented and crafty people ( along with the perks of technology, like laser printers) have figured out a way to quickly and painlessly create this effect!

Put a spin on the traditional framed picture for Father’s Day and transfer your favorite photo of you and Dad to a piece of wood for a rustic and charming way to display those great memories!

What you need:

• T-shirt transferable paper
• Wood piece ( unfinished)
• sandpaper
• printer
• Iron ( no steam, high setting)

How to:

Print your favorite picture on the t-shirt transferable paper, be sure to mirror the image

Fit your print to the piece of wood you’d like to transfer it to

Sand down your piece of wood to create a smooth finish

Iron on, print side down, the picture. Use the ‘high’ setting, without steam. Apply pressure evenly for about 2-4 minutes. I suggest doing a test print first and only pulling back a small corner to be sure your image has stuck, before pulling off the entire print!
