Super cute no sew weekender tote!

Last week during my weekly trip to Goodwill, I found a wooden sign. I have been brainstorming ideas on what to do with all of our leftover fence wood (we have a ton!), and some wooden signs were definitely on the list of items to create… So why did I go ahead and buy the wooden sign at Goodwill? If you’re in the market for a pair of white jeans, but don’t feel like dishing out the $$ to buy new ones, and you happen to have either: a pair of old blue jeans or $5.49 to spend on Goodwill jeans…break out the bleach.
To be honest, most of my experiences with bleach + fabric have been pretty bad, typically due to accidental spilling of bleach resulting in one of the largest annoyance of homemaking…bleach spots. That stuff is powerful!
After scouring the internet for bleaching tips and tricks, I found a large body of “fabric bleaching literature” explaining how bleach can be used to lighten ( duh) to various lighter shades of the original shade. Therefore, bleaching has a spectrum of lighter colors it can produce depending upon the original fabric color. So medium blue jeans can be bleached to light blue jeans to white jeans and all the shades in between! Read the rest of this entry ?

This is the first year that my girls attended “school”. It was a pre-school program for 2-year olds but I was amazed at how much they learned and grew during this past year. Not only socially, but academically, as well. While I try to teach them new things everyday, I am NOT a teacher. I have no idea what is age-appropriate material and sometimes lack the patience necessary to follow through with a lesson. Read the rest of this entry ?

This Sunday is Mother’s Day, and while I always rack my brain to come up with something for Mom, she always tells me the same thing, “I just want your love.” Now that I am a mom, I understand more what she means by that. While bling is nice, I would much rather have something that was made from the heart. Read the rest of this entry ?

I was only half kidding a few posts back when I said that Pinterest makes me feel like a failure. I have a healthy love/hate relationship with Pinterest. I love love love the creativity and inspiration I find with every search. Yet, I sometimes feel like I’m not worthy to hold a candle to the rest of the Pinterexperts. I think I’m a crafty person and I know I’m a thrifty person, but there are times when I doubt my ability. The perfectionist in me shouts out – it needs to be better! Read the rest of this entry ?

The other day I told you about the beautiful paper flowers I saw at the stationery shop across the street from me. Paper flowers are too cute and a great way to add a little spring ( with no possibility of killing them) to your home, but did you know that you can also make faux flowers from fabric? And I’m not referring to the plastic and fabric ones that remind me of a funeral home. If you love fabric rosettes, you’ll love decorating with these!
My fabulous friend Melissa, made a beautiful burlap floral arrangement for her sister this past holiday season, and she was kind enough to offer some tips Read the rest of this entry ?

Ahh… the mason jar. A staple of the South. There is never a shortage of this jar at Goodwill and it’s not just for the Redneck’s wine or Aunt May’s jelly. The mason jar can be used in a variety of ways! I make it a point to grab one when I visit Goodwill… seriously, you can’t have too many… and I’m a minimalist! Read the rest of this entry ?

I was planning on redecorating my girls’ bedroom dresser this past weekend, but unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans. Since she decided to water my strawberries instead of giving me appropriate weather to decorate outside, my dresser reveal post will have to wait until next week. Which I guess is okay, because it gave me a chance to do a little more researching on DIY dressers and totally changed my idea. I am amazed at how creative some people are!
