If you’re in the market for a pair of white jeans, but don’t feel like dishing out the $$ to buy new ones, and you happen to have either: a pair of old blue jeans or $5.49 to spend on Goodwill jeans…break out the bleach.
To be honest, most of my experiences with bleach + fabric have been pretty bad, typically due to accidental spilling of bleach resulting in one of the largest annoyance of homemaking…bleach spots. That stuff is powerful!
After scouring the internet for bleaching tips and tricks, I found a large body of “fabric bleaching literature” explaining how bleach can be used to lighten ( duh) to various lighter shades of the original shade. Therefore, bleaching has a spectrum of lighter colors it can produce depending upon the original fabric color. So medium blue jeans can be bleached to light blue jeans to white jeans and all the shades in between! Read the rest of this entry ?

“April showers bring May flowers,
That is what they say.”
What they don’t say is how to keep your footsies dry and cute! But nowadays everyone knows the key to cute, rainy wear is of course- stylish rain boots!

My favorite are the Hunters, the slim fit works perfect for me and looks great with a pair of skinny jeans. However, I’ve heard that a lot of ladies have trouble finding the perfect fit rain boots ( you runners who have developed muscular calves, or those of you who were just blessed with more shapely calves
)

Whenever I casually talk to someone about social media and how it affects my life, I sum it up by saying, “Facebook makes me feel like a success and Pinterest makes me feel like a failure.”
Now, I have had my fair share of “successes” with my DIY projects, but I have had ten times as many “fails”. If any of you caught that in my last post, I started out with two bookshelves and then showed the “after photo” with just one… uh… there’s a reason for that… shelf #2 didn’t make it… well, not yet at least… Read the rest of this entry ?

The past few seasons have been all about “statement” something. Whether it’s a statement clutch, necklace, or collar- the devil is in the details….statement details, of course.
Yesterday, I featured a couple of easy to wear, on spot trends; one of them being “Statement Sunglasses”. And with spring on the way Read the rest of this entry ?

Okay, this DIY was solely accomplished through luck, and a somewhat fashion forward “eye”. While browsing around Goodwill I came across an amazing vintage gown, and I immediately LOVED it. I would wear it if I could (could= had an estate home in the country side of Somerset with pet alpacas and chandelier adorned trees.. reference here) but alas I don’t, plus it has some serious stains from the life it once had. Oh well.So I decided to use all of its glory to create something new.
Today, I took the obvious route and “made” a Collar Statement Necklace, of course.

I’m sure Brit will go over the highs and lows of Oscar fashion with you tomorrow, so I’ll move onto utilizing Goodwill for the next holiday which is one of my favorites – St. Patrick’s Day! Since my Irish eyes are always smiling, I especially like it when everone breaks out their Irish heritage, dons green apparel and noshes on corned beef and cabbage while Read the rest of this entry ?

Lately I’ve been loving the cape. But not knowing exactly how long this “trend” may stay around I’ve decided, for the moment, not to make that investment. This doesn’t mean I’ll settle without the look…now! Enter… the jacket cape . The idea of a tossed garment over the shoulders is nothing new in the world of fashion- think of the effortlessly tied cardigan around the shoulders, classic chic. However, the idea has graduated from the thin cardigans to your everyday coat, and it looks great- as long as you keep in mind a few points. Read the rest of this entry ?
